Augsburg Pedalers For Progress consists of four Augsburg College student-cyclists advocating for progressive bicycle policies in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On May 21st the group begins a self-sustained bicycle tour from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Portland, Oregon. After cycling roughly 2,000 miles and camping for about 40 days in environments ranging from windy prairie to cold mountains, the Pedalers will begin composing a wide-scale cross-analysis between the two cities. Through the study of policy and infrastructure concerning cycling in Portland, as well as meetings with representatives and cycling advocacy groups who have had a hand in making it the nation’s most bikeable city the group will compose a report. This will contain advice on what implementations may be most applicable back home in Minneapolis, and what alterations may be necessary to fit our specific model efficiently. Our goal is sustainable and fiscally responsible change, and we plan to work until that has reached our own community.
